Lolo Ostia · Sustainable Art + Biomaterial Installation

Workshops

I lead public-facing workshops and develop educational programming focused on biomaterials, sustainability, and creative practice. Teaching  the “Break into Biotech” biomaterials program at Genspace, an initiative supported by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Have presented and led workshops at institutions including the Fashion Institute of Technology’s 19th Sustainability Conference, and have facilitated public biomaterials workshops in collaboration with March for Science in Union Square during Earth Day celebrations since 2023. As a  guest lecturer I’ve develop classes for Parsons School of Design, NYU and the Rhode Island School of Design.

My work centers on material activism, eco-art education, and increasing accessibility to science through art. I explore how color, texture, and form can communicate complex biological concepts, drawing on my background in fashion alongside my ongoing biomaterials research

Sustainable Art Practice + Public Space
Designed, wrote and implemented engaging lesson plans focused on the intersection of Sustainability in Art Practice, Biomaterials and Emerging Technologies for undergraduate and graduate students. A unique opportunity to connect, create and collaborate across NYU schools with the community from Art (Tisch, Gallatin) + Science (Tandon, Langone). Four sessions were held between Fall 2022 and Summer 2023.
*These workshops were funded thanks to a grant from the NYU office of Sustainability.
